Beau Zwart

Biography

Beau Zwart (1995) had an early introduction to music, learning classical piano throughout his childhood based in Rotterdam. Amazed by the possibilities of the works of classical composers from older generations he started to write his own compositions. In his teenage years he discovered jazz and electronic music and implemented these worlds in his compositions, but also in performances, soundtracks and DJ-sets.

After he graduated the bachelor in music and technology at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2019 he released music via national and international recordlabels like INI Movement (NL), Lazy Days (Quebec, Canada), Fluid Funk (NL), Midnight Riot Records (London, UK) and Boogie Cafe (Bristol, UK) with the likes of Atjazz, Jimpster, Dego, Kai Alce and Floating Points. Nowadays the sound in his productions and performances is a combination of soulful electronics, broken beats, jazz and narrative music. The hybrid way of producing makes his tracks both organic and driven. In his performances he connects genres with live looping and improvisation. He played on festivals like North Sea Jazz Festival, ADE, Grasnapolsky, ESNS, Pykes (Ibiza) and he had residencies at BIRD, BAR, Operator Radio and Weelde in his hometown Rotterdam.

As a film composer he scored five feature length movies, among which Drama Girl, released in 2021 on his own record label: Narrative Identity. A label that focuses on soundtracks and narratively driven music with the goal to connect and innovate the worlds of music and film. The score is nominated for the Buma Music in Motion award in the category Best Original Feature Length Score. In 2024 FUTURE ME released for which Beau did the full length score. Beau is currently working on a big project which is set to be released early 2024
